Usyk predicts Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury as ‘plans’ in place to finally make heavyweight showdown

Oleksandr Usyk is perhaps more well-positioned than most to know how a potential Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight may go.

The Ukrainian great is the only man to have defeated both Joshua and Fury inside a professional ring, and he has been able to do that on two occasions each.

Usyk first became world heavyweight champion with a unanimous decision victory over Joshua in September 2021, before also coming out on top in their immediate rematch 11 months later, this time by split decision.

An undisputed clash between Usyk and Fury then took place in May 2024, with the Ukrainian earning a knockdown against his rival on his way to a split decision win, and he then defeated ‘The Gypsy King’ by unanimous decision in their second meeting in December of that year.

A match-up between Joshua and Fury is yet to ever take place, despite the two men being linked to one another for a number of years while they were both reigning world champions.

Reports have now began to emerge again that ‘plans’ to finally make the all-British showdown in 2026 are underway, and Usyk has made his prediction on how it could unfold.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, Usyk revealed that he would lean towards AJ coming out on top.

“Maybe Anthony Joshua. Maybe points.”

Before Joshua vs Fury could potentially happen, the two heavyweights are reported to be lined up for warm-up bouts in February and April respectively, while AJ also has the small matter of a controversial fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami on December 19.
