Chris Eubank Sr shares his opinion on his son’s chances against Conor Benn in their rematch

The rematch between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is now just days away.

The two British stars collide at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on Saturday 15 November, seven months on from their first meeting at the same venue.

After an entertaining back-and-forth 12-round battle back in April, it was Eubank Jr who was victorious, defeating his rival by unanimous decision.

The winner spent days in hospital post-fight, later revealing he was suffering from “severe dehydration.”

One man who was extremely critical of the initial clash was Chris Eubank Sr, believing his son was being dangerously hampered due to competing at middleweight and being restricted to a 10lbs rehydration clause on the morning of the bout.

Despite his criticism, Eubank Sr chose to support his son, making a last-minute appearance on fight night, and the former two-weight world champion – who faced Conor’s father Nigel twice in the nineties – is set to be in attendance again for the rematch.

Speaking on his YouTube channel ahead of the second clash, Eubank Sr was asked if he believes whether age could play a big factor in the bout.

“It could be. It depends on the life that Jr has been living. If you’ve been burning the candle at the wrong end then it will show up in the fight. If he’s been strict with himself, then he could be OK.”

Junior recently revealed that his father would rather see him retire than compete again.

At 36-years-old, with Benn is seven years younger at 29, many fans are wondering the same as the British fighting legend – is the turnaround from their first fight set to be a big factor in the rematch next week?
