Ennis Crushes Lima In 118 Seconds

Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis (35-0 (31) knocked out WBA No. 9 Uisma Lima (14-2 (10) at 1:58 of the first round of a scheduled 12 rounds to claim the WBA interim junior middleweight title on Saturday night at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In the first round, Ennis dropped Lima with a combination on the chin, starting with a right uppercut, for an 8-count from referee Shawn Clark. He followed with a flurry of punches, dropping Lima a second time for an 8-count. Ennis then followed up with a blistering combination, resulting in referee Clark waving it off.

Vianello Stops Barriere 

In the chief support, southpaw Alexis ‘The Great’ Barriere (12-1 (10) was stopped by Olympian Guido ‘The Gladiator’ Vianello (14-3-1 (11) at 0:20 of the fifth round of a scheduled 10 rounds for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Heavyweight title.

In the first round, Vianello, in the first minute and final seconds, landed rights on the chin of Barriere. In the second round, Barriere outlanded Vianello. In the fourth round, Vianello landed a right uppercut on the chin, followed by several punches, dropping Barriere for an 8-count from referee Ricky Gonzalez.

In the fifth round, Vianello again dropped Barriere with a right on the left side of the head as referee Gonzalez counted him out.

Tahmir Smalls Remains Unbeaten

Tahmir Smalls (16-0 (11) defeated Jose Roman (14-2 (6) by a 10-round unanimous decision for the North American Continental Welter title. In the third, Smalls scored a knockdown after connecting with a right, followed by a left hand.

In the first round, the shorter Smalls outlanded Roman. In the third round, Smalls dropped Roman with a right on the chin, and as he was falling, Smalls landed a left hand to the head as referee Harvey Dock gave him the 8-count. Smalls had him in trouble the rest of the round.

In the fourth and fifth rounds, Roman came back well, winning both rounds. In the sixth round’s final seconds, Smalls rocked Roman with a right on the chin. In the seventh and eighth rounds, Roman had an edge.

In the ninth round, Roman used his reach to land on Smalls. In the tenth and final round, Smalls rocked him with a right on the chin halfway through the round in a close round.

The scores were 98-91, 96-93, and 95-94.

Visioli Outclasses Wilkins

Lightweight Giorgio Visioli (9-0 (6) beat James ‘Crunch Time’ Wilkins (13-4 (6) by a lopsided eight-round unanimous decision.

In the first two rounds, Visioli outworked Wilkins. In the third round, Visioli went to the body of Wilkins, taking another round. In the fifth round, Wilkins came back to outland Visioli. In the eighth and final round, Visioli won another round.

The scores were 80-72, 80-72, and 80-72. Harvey Dock was the referee.

Moses Dominates in Six

Super featherweight southpaw Zaquin Moses (4-0 (3) defeated Antonio Dunton El, Jr. (6-4-2 (2) by a six-round unanimous decision.

In the first three rounds, Moses dominated. In the fifth round, Moses hurt Dunton with a left to the body midway in the round. In the sixth and final round, Moses beat Dunton to the body.

The scores were 60-54, 60-54, and 60-54. Ricky Gonzalez was the referee.

Light welterweight Justin Palmieri (5-1 (3) lost to Naheem Parker (6-3 (2) by a six-round unanimous decision.

In the second round, Parker landed an overhand right in the first minute on the chin of Palmieri. In the fifth round, Palmieri’s right eye started swelling up.

The judges’ scores were 60-54, 60-54, and 60-54. Dave Braslow was the referee.

Mederos Scores Explosive KO

Light welterweight Harley ‘Dennis the Menace’ Mederos (9-0 (8) knocked out Hylon Williams, Jr. (16-7-1 (3) after one round of a scheduled six rounds.

In the first round a combination in the first minute Mederos dropped Williams with a right whose knee hit the canvas for an 8-count from referee Eric Dali. Seconds later, a left on the chin from Mederos again dropped Williams for an 8-count from Referee Dali. In between rounds, the corner of Williams refused to continue, having referee Dali call a halt.

Thompson Edges Diaz in a War

Super bantamweight ‘The Quiet Storm’ Dennis Thompson (8-0 (5) won a six-round split decision over Sean ‘Dillinger’ Diaz (9-1 (2).

In the first two rounds, the taller Thompson had an edge as Diaz started showing off in the second round. In the third round, Diaz continued showboating while getting outlanded by Thompson.

In the fourth round, Thompson drew blood from the mouth of Diaz, outlanding him also with a body shot midway in the round. In the fifth round, referee Eric Dali took a point from Diaz for holding. In the sixth and final round, Thompson continued to outwork Diaz, who had a mark under his right eye at the end.

The scores were 60-53 for Thompson, 57-56 for Diaz, and 57-56 for Thompson.
