Collazo Vs Vayson, Fundora Vs Kubicki: Doubleheader Ready To Rattle Coachella

Golden Boy rolled into Fantasy Springs today with a presser ahead of fight night this Saturday,  8 PM ET / 5 PM PT (1 AM UK), live on DAZN. It’s a doubleheader carrying proper weight for the lighter divisions. Oscar “El Pupilo” Collazo, Puerto Rico’s unbeaten unified WBA, WBO and Ring Magazine minimumweight champ, is putting it all on the line against Jayson “Striker” Vayson of the Philippines. Twelve rounds, belts stacked, no room for hesitation.

Backing that up, Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora, the youngest ever undisputed world champion, makes her second defense of the WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and Ring straps against Canada’s Alexas Daria “Iron Lady” Kubicki. Fundora’s talking short, sharp and cold. Kubicki? She’s talking like the belts are already packed for Edmonton.

Is Collazo Walking Into Vayson’s Fire?

Collazo stayed calm on stage: “Vayson has fought a lot of good opposition and comes with a lot of hunger, and I know will come to fight.” It’s his return to Coachella, the place he first lifted belts. No nerves shown, but you could see he knows this Filipino isn’t turning up to be a backdrop.

Vayson, fighting on U.S. soil for the first time, looked like he’d been waiting years for this: “I can’t wait to show the world what I am made of and that I am a true warrior of the Philippines. I will not waste this opportunity.” That’s not fluff, that’s the sound of a man who’s treated this like his one shot.

Fundora’s Silence vs Kubicki’s Certainty

Fundora cut straight to the point: “Talk is cheap. Let’s see what she can bring on Saturday.” Then with a grin: “My nickname is Sweet Poison for a reason. I’m sweet outside the ring and when Saturday comes, there will be poison inside.” That’s her warning label.

Kubicki? No hesitation, no doubt: “It’s not a question of IF I win, it’s WHEN I win. When I win on Saturday night, I WILL break her record to become the youngest undisputed world champion.” She’s banking on belief alone, but she looked deadly serious.
