BoMac Guarantees A Crawford Win, Putting The Light Heavyweight Apex Directly In His Sights

Now that trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre is guaranteeing a victory for Terence Crawford over Canelo Alvarez on Saturday, fans want to know if Terence is ready to step up to 175 to take on the big dogs in that division.

With Crawford’s weight in camp at the start of his camp in the 180s, he’s more than big enough to compete at light heavyweight against the top fighters.

Taking on the Big Four

To get Terence to agree to a fight against light heavyweights like David Benavidez and Dmitry Bivol, it could require Turki Alalshikh to lure him into it by giving him an offer he can’t refuse. I believe everyone has a price, and Crawford would do it as long as it makes sense.

Weight Is No Obstacle

If he’s 180, that’s small cruiserweight territory. Terence has the size to compete at 175, and BoMac says “weight doesn’t matter.” So, even if he is giving up a few pounds against the top fighters, his skills make up for it.

“Bud walks around big anyway,” said trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre to Ring Magazine. “Just look at him. He’s a big dude,” said BoMac to Fight Hub TV.

If the victory is in the bag against Canelo, according to BoMac, why should Crawford stop taking risks to cement his legacy after Saturday? Bud can move up to 175 to face the Big Four one by one to create a real legacy against fighters that are still in their prime.

Going after IBF, WBA, and WBO champion Bivol immediately would allow Crawford to claim three titles all at once without taking up a lot of time to collect them. Once he has those belts, Terence would only need to beat WBC champion Benavidez to become a four-division undisputed champion. That’s Henry Armstrong-type stuff.

He’s Going to Wreck Him

“Listen, man, we’re going to win. No, I’m not worried about size. I’m not worried about that,” said BoMac to Boxing News, guaranteeing Crawford will beat Canelo. “He’s going to wreck [him]. We are going to beat his a**. I promise you that. Just watch,” said BoMac to The Ring.

There it is, BoMac guaranteeing victory for Crawford on Saturday against Alvarez. The way he said it, I could tell that he is certain in his mind that Bud is going to do the job against the undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs). You can argue that BoMac is a little drunk on Crawford’s past success and now believes he’s virtually invincible. We’ll find out on Saturday night if he’s right.

Canelo vs. Crawford will take place this Saturday, September 14, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The event will be shown on Netflix.
