Munguia’s Positive Test Fallout

Earlier today, it was revealed that Canelo’s teammate, Jaime Munguia, had tested positive for “testosterone metabolites” in a test on May 4th after his win over Bruno Surace in Riyadh. The positive test by Munguia has led to fans targeting the gym, the trainer, and Canelo.

Jermall Accuses Canelo: PEDs

Charlo’s comment about the Mexican superstar Canelo won’t make him happy. Jermall is coming off a two-year layoff on Saturday, and he’s repeatedly mentioned that he wants a fight against Canelo. However, with his remarks about Alvarez today, he may have spoiled his chances if the Mexican star holds a grudge.

“I’ve been telling y’all about SNAC for a long time. Victor Conte. Hear me out. They make the drug at the limit of non-responsiveness,” said Jermall Charlo to the media today, reacting to the reports of a popular teammate of Canelo Alvarez testing positive for a PED. “This level right here is a ban. That is a banned substance.

“They will make the drug all the way up to the line of the banned substance, but it just doesn’t show. So, it’s not responsive. They’ve been doing this s*** for years, but now that they’ve [VADA] have tapped into it, they’re getting caught. Y’all think Canelo hasn’t been taking Clenbuterol for a long a** time? Y’all think he ain’t back on that s*** or y’all think it was just a mistake?

Microdosing PEDs in Boxing

“I got to Mexico all the time. I’m from Houston, Texas. I’m in Mexico all the time eating steak. I ain’t ever got caught for no s*** like that. They’re microdosing it. I’m not trying to put nobody out there. This is not just boxing.”

Some of the fighters’ physiques don’t appear natural, which is a red flag that something is amiss. When they start looking like a bodybuilder or a professional wrestler, that’s a sign they’re using. What’s really telling is when a fighter is in their mid-to-late 30s and they’re muscular with no fat, like a person in their early 20s.

“There are a lot of athletes all over the world. They make the drug right there to the line of disqualification, but they don’t surpass it. So, they’re not getting caught for it. A lot of these fighters are on all kinds of s***,” said Jermall.

If what Charlo is saying is true, the fighters who are testing dirty for the drugs aren’t being tested by their teams in the build-up to the fights to ensure that they’ll pass VADA’s testing. If many of the top fighters are using PEDs to increase strength and ensure their fights, they’ve likely got it down to a science, and are being tested before VADA gets to them.
